What I do

I provide in-person consecutive and simultaneous interpreting in:

• English ↔ Spanish
• English ↔ Russian

I work at a professional level in both languages. Russian interpreters can be hard to find in Utah, and I'm glad to help fill that gap.

Experience

I'm experienced in both consecutive and simultaneous interpreting. Simultaneous interpreting, where I interpret in real time as the speaker talks, often over a headset, is the mode many interpreters find hardest, and it's one of my strengths. I'm also highly skilled at consecutive interpretation, where a speaker talks and then pauses for the interpreter to speak, in less formal conversations as well as presentations to large groups of people.

I've traveled on week-long official interpreting assignments in both Spanish and Russian, covering highly varied technical conversations and presentations.

I've also volunteered as a simultaneous interpreter at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, interpreting live from English into both Spanish and Russian from an interpreting booth. Earlier, while serving a religious mission in Russia, I interpreted in a wide variety of situations, from regular church services to confidential counseling sessions.

I regularly complete intensive training to improve my skills, including multi-week language courses, and I stay involved in Utah's interpreting community through events like the Utah Language Access Conference. I grew up moving to a new country every couple of years, so adapting to new cultures and ways of communicating comes naturally to me. I've always loved helping people communicate and connect across languages and cultures.

Service area

I'm based in Salt Lake City and serve Weber, Davis, Salt Lake, and Utah counties, including Ogden and Provo. I'm also available to travel nationwide and internationally for events, conferences, delegations, and multi-day assignments.

Booking

• Quotes are provided for each assignment.
• Assignments have a 2-hour minimum.
• Please give at least 48 hours' notice to cancel; later cancellations are billed at the minimum.
• Travel outside Weber, Davis, Salt Lake, and Utah counties is billed separately.
• For long-distance and international assignments, travel, lodging, and per diem are quoted per assignment.
